Three Deacs Named to All-ACC Academic Football Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Three members of the Wake Forest football team were named to the All-ACC Academic squad, released by the league office on Thursday. Senior quarterback James MacPherson, sophomore linebacker Brad White, and junior free safety Quintin Williams represent the Demon Deacons on the 2002 team.
To be eligible, a player must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the fall semester or have maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
All three of Wake Forest??s selections not only performed well in the classroom, but played key roles in the Deacons?? successful season on the gridiron. WFU finished with a 7-6 record, including a victory over Oregon in the Seattle Bowl.
MacPherson, a Business major who was named the Seattle Bowl MVP, earned a 3.69 GPA during the fall semester. White, who was the Deacons?? leading tackler in 2002 with 94 stops, recorded a 3.0 this fall, also in Business. Williams led the WFU secondary with 72 tackles while recording a team-high three interceptions. His cumulative GPA of 3.25 in Computer Science placed him on the All-ACC Academic squad.
