Head Coach Jim Grobe
On last week's loss at North Carolina: "The tough part for us is that we've got a tough football team coming to town Saturday. As disappointed as we are with our performance last week, we can't dwell on it too long or we'll be in trouble Saturday."
On the kicking game: "We really have not done anything differently. We probably worked harder this year on the kicking game than any other time. For about the past twenty years we've done things about the same way, so it's just one of those things. We had a bad day with the kicking game and we'll go back to work on it this week."
On scheduling the game against Connecticut: "I think it was a situation where we had to play a game and we had the opportunity for a home game this year. Our other option was to be at Navy away from home, so we took the opportunity to have seven home games. UConn was starting to play good football back then, so its not really a surprise."
On Connecticut's style of play: "They do everything well, they're a very balanced football team. Offensively, they've been very explosive. They have a good quarterback who throws the ball very well, but they're a balanced offense. They run the football very well and that's what stands out -- that they are able to run and throw the ball very effectively. Defensively, they have not given up a lot of yards to anybody. They're just a very well-coached football team, a talented football team and a junior/senior oriented football team."
On bouncing back after last week's loss: "I think our guys will be ready to play, we just have to get North Carolina behind us. That's the key for us. I think our guys feel bad about what happened last Saturday. This is a good UConn football team, there are no excuses this Saturday. These guys are pretty good, we'd better come out and be ready to play."
Senior Free Safety Quintin Williams
On rebounding from the loss to North Carolina: "I think if we come out focused this week at practice and mentally ready to try and get our sixth win, I think we'll be fine. Of course it's going to be hard to put a loss like that behind us, because we take so much pride in being a good football team and they're one of our biggest rivals. So it hurts bad, you can't hide that. Hopefully we'll get over it and get back on track."
On getting their sixth win and becoming bowl eligible: "I think not only do the players deserve it, but I think Coach Grobe and the coaching staff deserve it. They come out and try to give us the best gameplan possible and it hurts not to put that plan into action especially when you know what you should be doing but you don't go out and do your job."
On Wake Forest's inconsistent play this season: "We'll come out and play almost a perfect game against Clemson and then some teams will come out and we'll let them run for 240 yards against us in one half. I don't think the consistency has been there."
Sophomore Quarterback Cory Randolph
On last week's loss to North Carolina: "I wouldn't say we're angry. It's more of a disappointment that we let go of the opportunity we had. But that's in the past now. We have to look past that and get ready for UConn now."
On Connecticut's defense: "They're great. They run schemes very similar to North Carolina but their front seven is a lot more physical. They have a lot of experienced guys on defense, and play a lot of man coverage."
On what the Wake Forest offense needs to do Saturday: "The biggest thing is to take care of the football and finish drives. Last week we had three offensive penalties that killed drives early in the first quarter. So this week we have to finish those drives."
On becoming bowl eligible: "That's in the back of our minds right now. Right now we have to look at Saturday's game against UConn. We can't look past those guys. We can't really do anything if we don't win this game Saturday, so all of our focus is on that."
