CARY, N.C.- The third-seeded Virginia Cavaliers defeated the second-seeded Wake Forest Demon Deacons 1-0 Friday evening at the SAS Soccer Complex to advance to the ACC Men's Soccer Finals on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Cavaliers will make their fifth-straight appearance in the ACC finals. Virginia's only goal came off a miscommunication between a Wake Forest defender and goalkeeper resulting in a Wake Forest own goal. With the loss, Wake Forest's record becomes 15-4, while Virginia improves to 9-9-1.
Sunday's championship game will feature Maryland and Virginia for the ninth time in ACC finals history. It is also a rematch from just a year ago when the Terrapins defeated the Cavaliers 3-0.
