Quoting Head Coach Skip Prosser
On having over a week off between games:
"That game was so early in the year, we ended up having to cram a lot of things in to prepare for Memphis. We needed some more time to work on a multitude of things. It's a relief to have a little more practice time without the pressure of a game coming up."
On Wake Forest's performance against Memphis:
"I thought our guys responded extremely well. Even though we made a lot of errors, I was proud of the way our guys carried out most of the things we tried to execute. Offensively, we didn't shoot the ball well. Maybe that's early season, maybe that's Madison Square Garden, or maybe it was Memphis' defense. From an offensive standpoint we have to shoot the ball better and we have to rebound better, but I thought we tried hard to execute most of our stuff."
On Vytas Danelius:
"He's a good leaper and has a good knack for going to the offensive glass. Having said that, he got himself in foul trouble and played very tentatively. He came up with no offensive rebounds and that can't ever happen again for us to be a good basketball team. He's gone through two practices now without a hint of a problem so we're hoping that his tendonitis is getting better."
On Taron Downey:
"Taron practiced very hard Sunday and Monday. I saw no lingering effects of the appendectomy. He's a tough kid and he didn't want to sit out of anything."
On Saturday's game against Elon:
"Coach Nestor is a guy who is very familiar with Wake Forest. He was a longtime assistant here and he has two Wake Forest grads on his staff. It will be a great challenge for us and I think our players are going to have to recognize that and come out and be really excited to play against a pumped up Elon team Saturday afternoon."
