Recap?|? Final Stats?|? Notes

Quoting Wake Forest Head Coach Charlene Curtis
On the defensive effort: "We have now played two very good games on defense. We really set the tone and took Hampton out of what they wanted to do. Now we just have to create on the other end after we play great defense."

On feelings after first half:"I was dissapointed and embarrassed at halftime. We were a team struggling for our identity. We just need to decide what we want to be and ply to that level."

The focus of practice heading into this weekend:"One of the things we need to focus on is rebounding. We have to box out on the defensive end and not give up 17 offensive rebounds. We will work on free throw shooting as well. We did a great job of getting there, but only converted half of them."

On Liz Strunk:"She has been plying well since the beginning. She does it everyday in practice and has a good feel for a game. Tonight we actually put her at the four position and she was a catalyst for us all game long."

Quoting Wake Forest sophomore Liz Strunk
On 14-point effort:"Before the game, I was 0-for-0 last week so I knew I had to shoot the ball more. I did that and things just drop for me tonight. I have been working more inside-out and not relying on the 3-point shot. I started taking more and then hitting my shots from the post."

On this weekend:"It is exciting for us. We have to keep getting better as a team."

On practice heading into this weekend:"We are getting a lot of shots in during practice. I have learned this season that I do not want to be a streaky shooter. I feel it is all about repetition at practice."

Quoting Wake Forest senior Tracy Alston
On the game:"I came into the game with a lot of energy. I liked the way we played. We played very hard in the first half and carried that into the second half. It feels good to take a lead into halftime."

On own performance:"I have been working on keeping the arc of my shot up and pounding more on the offensive boards. I feel that showed tonight."

On weekend:"We need to stay focused on staying together and setting the tone in the beginning. Our goal is to grow much stronger as a team this weekend."

Quoting Hampton Head Coach Patricia Cage-Bibbs
On the WFU defense:"The Wake Forest defense is very good. They matched up well. They get in your face and are outstanding at defending. When shots do not go, you have to play defense and we did not get it done."
