WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Two Demon Deacon football players were named ACC Players of the Week following WFU's 45-17 victory over Clemson last Saturday. Senior offensive tackle Mark Moroz was tabbed ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week while true freshman defensive end Jyles Tucker earned Rookie of the Week honors.
Moroz was in on 61 of the Demon Deacons' 67 offensive snaps against Clemson. He graded out at a team-best 90 percent with no missed assignments. The 6-4, 285-pound senior also recorded 18.5 knockdowns - another team high. Moroz helped pave the way for the Deacon ground game to record 321 yards - the best single-game rushing mark in the ACC this season - as well as four rushing touchdowns. The offensive line also gave up no sacks against the Tigers.
Tucker earned his first career starting nod against Clemson -- the first true freshman to start for the Deacs this season. The 6-4, 250-pounder scored a defensive touchdown, stripping the ball out of Charlie Whitehurst's hands and returning it 12 yards for the TD - getting credit for the forced fumble and recovered fumble as well. In addition, Tucker finished the day with two solo tackles, a pass break-up and a quarterback pressure.
Moroz and Tucker become the eighth and ninth Wake Forest players to earn the conference's weekly honor this season. It is also a first for both players.
Wake Forest (5-4, 3-3 ACC) returns to action Saturday, Nov. 8 at Chapel Hill, N.C., facing the UNC Tar Heels in a 12 noon showdown at Kenan Stadium.
