Wake Forest head coach Charlene Curtis
On the focus for today's game:
"Our focus was to play with an identity. We needed to play Wake Forest women's basketball. I really liked our defensive pressure. We really disrupted their offense."
On the defensive pressure:
"Defense can really balance the scales. Defense is something that can show up every night, especially nights when our shots and offense is off. Defense is about hustle and determination which is something that should never go away."
On playing a lot of people:
"We had such a long layoff that our conditioning was not there so it was good to play a bunch of people. We got to see some people at different spots and saw some different lineups, especially with Bianca at the shooting guard spot. Bianca has been shooting better that some of our other guards so we needed to get her some more looks at the basket."
Senior guard Tonia Brown
On her game:
"I just focused on the confidence in my shot. I have not been shooting well lately, but that is all I have been lacking. As far as assists, my teammates were in the right place and I just tried to get them the ball."
About the short turnaround:
"We will take a little break and then get ready and refocused. We will watch tape tonight and focus on getting a great win tomorrow."
On today's game plan:
"The focus was to disrupt their offense and establish our tempo. Today is the first time we have played well knowing we could beat the other team. Even when we won by 20 or 30, we have not played well. I think we found our identity today."
Senior guard Bianca Brown
On today's game plan:
"We wanted to focus on being aggressive from the jump ball and setting the tone. We wanted to be confident and aggressive for 40 minutes and today we maintained and executed for the whole game."
On tomorrow's opponent Florida A&M:
"It is a challenge. I will go back to the room and we will have to get our minds ready. We will go through new goals for tomorrow's game and go to bed early. Momentum helps and will be an advantage tomorrow."
On the rest of the season:
"Today is a big step for us. We really improved our rebounding and boxing out, which is something we do everyday in practice. NC A&T is athletic and strong so we knew rebounding was important. We just need to keep our confidence and even though everyone put us last in the league we have a lot of talent and ability."
