Winston-Salem, N.C. - Three Wake Forest men's soccer players, headlined by senior goalkeeper William Hesmer, have been selected to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas All-America team, the organization announced this week. Hesmer was named to the first team while senior forward Jeremiah White and sophomore defender Michael Parkhurst were second team selections.

For White and Hesmer, it is their second straight appearance on the All-America teams but Hesmer is Wake Forest's first-ever NSCAA first team All-America selection.

Other Deacons to earn NSCAA honors include Neil Covone (3rd team in 1988 and 1999), Todd Renner (2nd team in 1988 and 1989), Serge Daniv (3rd team in 1995), Aaron Thomas (2nd team in 2001), White (3rd team in 2001), Brian Carroll (3rd team in 2002) and Hesmer (2nd team in 2002).

White, a native of Lansdowne, Pa., was also the ACC Player of the Year. He had eight goals and five assists for the Deacons. White leaves Wake Forest as the school's second all-time leading scorer with 37 goals, 19 assists for a total of 93 points. Last week, White was invited to the 2004 adidas MLS Player Combine in Carson, Calif., to take place in January.

Hesmer, a native of Wilson, N.C., was a two-time first team All-ACC selection and holds the Wake Forest career records for shutouts and goals against average. He suffered season-ending injuries on November 4 against Davidson and did not participate in the postseason.

Parkhurst, a native of Cranston, R.I. , was the anchor of the Wake Forest defense that allowed less than one goal per game. Parkhurst was also a member of the ACC First Team. He has been on the All-ACC teams in each of his first two years with the Deacons.
