Wake Forest Postgame Quotes
December 6, 2003 vs. Richmond

Wake Forest head coach Skip Prosser
On the game:
"I give credit to Richmond. They had a terrific game plan. They took advantage of things better than anyone else that we have played. Coach Wainwright did a good job. We needed a game like this. We did not play as well as we could and I give credit to Richmond for that. We hit some cold-blooded 3-pointers, but we still have to get better rebounding the ball."

On the ejections of Trent Strickland and Todd Hendley:
"I wish those guys would not have come off the bench. I'll take the blame for that. I thought the referees managed the situation as well as they could have. The events certainly added to our intensity, but I don't think it was the deciding factor for our victory. It is a hard lesson for our team to learn, but hopefully for the future it will help us out."

On Richmond's zone:
"I think it made us passive. We see the zone as a caution light instead of a green light. We had some good looks and I think we have some good shooters. It was well managed on the part of Richmond.

Wake Forest junior guard Taron Downey
On the second half:
"We kept our composure even though we were not making shots because we knew that we would eventually make some shots. We needed to have a tough mentality and take a win."

On the game:
"We needed a test and we got a good win today."

On the ejections of Trent Strickland and Todd Hendley:
"We are like a family and we wanted to show Chris Paul that we had his back. It definitely got us pumped up and motivated to come out with a win."

Wake Forest freshman guard Chris Paul
On the ejections of Trent Strickland and Todd Hendley:
"It definitely fired us up. All I saw was an elbow flying at me and it really excited all the guys. The coach said to not let a team come into our house and take our pride. Thankfully, our shots started falling.

"I tried to play smart and I also tried to get in his (Daon Merritt) head a little bit. They played hard and Mike Skrocki is a great shooter for them. In the end, we came out with the win."

On Eric Williams:
"People tell us guards we had a good game, but that was because of Eric Williams. We like to go inside-out. With Eric inside, we want to step up and do our part as well."

Richmond head coach Jerry Wainwright
On Skip Prosser:
"First, I am a big fan of Skip Prosser. He is a terrific guy and great coach. What you hope is that one guy has an off night, but they started hitting two or three in a row. They just broke it open and have such good balance."

On the game:
"They moved the ball and are an unselfish team. They have three point guards in the lineup and they all do a great job. We did not do a great job inside tonight, but I really want to applaud Reggie Brown."

"They game broke late and we did not have any answers to their shots."

"Our shot selection really hurt us. Wake Forest does a great job off making you pay for your mistakes. Chris Paul is one of the best freshman in the nation and gives an incredible presence on the court. I commend Wake Forest."
