Defensive back Caron Bracy, a junior from Jacksonville, Fla., emerged as one of the Demon Deacons' top defenders last season, finishing second on the team with 82 stops, three forced fumbles, two pass breakups and two fumble recoveries. After Thursday afternoon's practice, Bracy visited with WakeForestSports.com for a Q&A session.
This is a continuing series on wakeforestsports.com. Find out below how to submit your own question for a future Q&A.
Q: In the media guide, you list "BOP" as one of your nicknames. What's the story behind that?
CB: That came from T-weezy (Tarence Williams) last year. He said that described the way I am on the field. I'd be coming down the alley and he said I was just bopping people.
Q: This Sunday will be your first day off since practice started August 6. What are your plans for that day?
CB: Mainly just laying in bed, getting ready for another long week of practice. Maybe watch a little football.
Q: There's not much free time now, but what do you do when you're not in practices or meetings?
CB: I'll hang around with the guys for a few minutes, watch some TV, and then get some rest.
Q: Also in your media guide profile, you named "the block" as one of your favorite places on campus. What is that?
CB: The main block is between Student Apartments and Polo, where most of the guys live. It's just where we hang out, have a good time, laugh and talk about life.
Q: What do you think of the new practice format -- two practices one day, one practice the next?
CB: I don't really like it. The practices are longer now. When they were shorter we felt like we were working the whole time. Now, with these three hour practices, it seems like there's more learning going on. We have to teach the younger players everything since they came in at the same time as the rest of us.
Q: What's in your CD player right now?
CB: 50 Cent
Q: You play the bandit position in the secondary. Why is it called "bandit"?
CB: It's something the coaches came up with. It's similar to the rover position on other teams. It's like having two strong safeties on the field, so I go over to the weak side.
Q: Being a Florida native, what do you think about Miami joining the ACC?
CB: I like it. I don't have any friends who are playing for Miami right now, but I have friends and family who live down there. It will be a good opportunity for them to see me play. It's a big-name school and a good program.
