The Wake Forest men??s golf team finished in a three-way tie for seventh at The Preview, which concluded Tuesday after 36 holes at the The Cascades course at The Homestead. Fifteen teams competed in the event, held at the site of next spring??s NCAA Championship. Thirteen of the participating schools are ranked in the preseason top 15.

Sixth-ranked Wake Forest, along with UNLV and North Carolina, placed seventh at 22-over par 582. UCLA came away with the team title at 572. Georgia Tech finished second, one stroke back. Defending national champion Clemson and Florida tied for third at 15-over.

After shooting a 292 in Monday??s opening round to sit in a tie for fourth place, the Demon Deacons actually shaved two strokes off Tuesday??s team score. Team scores across the board dropped, however, as Monday??s rainy, windy conditions were replaced with sunshine and clear skies on Tuesday.

WFU sophomore Kyle Reifers recorded a career-best fifth-place finish. Reifers, tied with three others, finished with a one-over 141 for the tournament with scores of 69-72. He finished three strokes back of individual champion John Poucher of UCLA, who carded a two-under 138 (70-68).

Senior Bill Haas tied for 12th place at three-over 143 after carding rounds of 71-72. Freshman Sean Moore showed the biggest improvement over the course of the event, going from a 78 on Monday to a final-round 72. He finished tied for 47th with a 10-over 150. Another rookie, Chad Wilcox, finished one stroke back at +11 (74-77), tying for 55th. Sophomore Barr Blanton, competing in his first collegiate event, shaved five strokes off his first round score, turning in a 74 on Tuesday and tying for 64th at 13-over par 153 (79-74).
