A Wake Forest loss:
- Drops its all-time record to 369-555-34
- Extends Virginia's series lead to 33-12 and is UVa's second consecutive win over WFU
- Today's game captains: #25 Quintin Williams and #77 Tyson Clabo
- Cornerback Eric King forced his fifth and sixth career fumbles, bringing his career turnover total to 11. King also has five career interceptions. His first forced fumble in the endzone prevented a UVa touchdown.
- Safety Quintin Williams recovered that fumble, the second of his career.
- Wake Forest's scoreless first quarter was just its fourth of the season, along with the first quarter at Boston College and second half versus Purdue.
- Wake Forest has not allowed a first-quarter touchdown since the season opener at Boston College.
- Cornelius Birgs' two-yard TD run was his third of the season, seventh of his career.
- Safety Warren Braxton recorded his fourth career interception (second this season) when he grabbed a deflected pass in the third quarter.
- Jason Anderson extended his streak to 13 straight games with at least two receptions, and for the second straight week caught a long TD pass - this week was 47 yards in the third quarter. Anderson now has 72 catches for 1,371 yards for a 19.0 per catch average. He needs just five more catches to set a new school record in average per catch. (The current record is 17.2 yards, by Todd Dixon from 1990-93).
- Quarterback Cory Randolph set new career highs in passing with 218 yards and attempts (31).
- Defensive end Jerome Nichols recorded his second career interception. Nichols has intercepted both of the ACC's pre-season Heisman candidates - NC State's Philip Rivers and Virginia's Matt Schaub.
- Wake Forest's opponent committed five turnovers for the second straight week. (ECU had five last week.) In every game this season, the Deacs have been even or held the advantage in turnover margin.
- Today's game marked the 18th of 29 games in the Jim Grobe era at WFU decided by seven points or less. It is also the third straight game in this series decided by four points or less.
- Connor Hughes' 53-yard field goal to tie the game at 24-24 was the fourth-longest field goal against WFU in school history and longest since Sebastian Janikowski of FSU hit a 56-yarder in 1997.
