Wake Forest Postgame Quotes
January 15, 2004 / vs. Florida State
Wake Forest head coach Charlene Curtis
On the FSU run to open the second-half:
"The same thing happened against Maryland. I changed the approach in the lockerroom at halftime. We emphasized attacking the zone and hitting the boards. But, they just killed us on the glass. We are not big enough and it is a huge problem."
On the late WFU rally:
"I really liked the fact that we did not quit. It seems like we play better when we are behind. We need to play like that when the game is there for the taking."
On the continued stellar play of Liz Strunk:
"I wish it would happen with us winning. I wish she could get that along with more support from her teammates to win these games. It is amazing what we get from her and Erin (Ferrell) in the paint considering their size. I would love to be able to move both of them on the perimeter, but we do not have enough of a post presence. We have to ask a lot of them."
Demon Deacon junior forward Erin Ferrell
On performance:
"In the first-half, I felt I let my team down by not looking to score. Liz did a great job, but needs help. I needed to attack the zone and be more aggressive."
On playing hard to the end:
"I thought we gave up early against Maryland, but not tonight. We practiced different drills from a deficit and that prepared us for the situation. In practice earlier this week, we were down seven with three minutes. Today, we were down nine."
Demon Deacon sophomore forward Liz Strunk
On career-high 26 points and 10 rebounds:
"They were playing a 2-2-1 zone, so I tried to get into the middle and attack. Our team had good ball movement and got me open shots."
On playing hard to the end:
"We need to learn now, how to finish games. We were up at halftime. Our team has a never-say-die motto, but we need to finish games and play the whole game like the last 10 minutes tonight."
On focus heading into Clemson game:
"We have to focus on post defense and boxing out. Erin and I are undersized, but we need to use our quickness to get rebounds."
