WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest senior Scott Sealy scored his team-leading 10th goal of the season and sophomore Mark Ellington added his first to lead the ninth-ranked Demon Deacons past Elon, 2-0, in men's college soccer action from Spry Stadium Tuesday night. With the goal, Sealy has now totaled 36 for his career and moved into a third place tie with Ben Stafford on the all-time goals list.

Sealy picked up the goal in the 16th minute. After Wake Forest had racked up 10 shots in the opening 15 minutes, Sealy finally cracked the Elon goalkeeper. Sophomore Ryan Solle spotted senior Stephen Keel all alone in the Phoenix midfield. Keel turned and slotted the ball behind the Elon defensive line. Sealy dribbled past a charging Taylor Saxe and blasted the ball into the open net. The forward leads the Demon Deacons in goals (10), assists (5) and points (25).

The Deacs continued the onslaught on the Phoenix throughout the match. Wake Forest outshot Elon, 15-0, in the opening 45 minutes. The Phoenix did not register its first shot until midway through the second half. By that time, the Demon Deacons had recorded 19 shots. The Deacs finished the match with a 29-4 advantage in shots. The 29 shots are the most for Wake Forest since Oct. 22 of last season when the Demon Deacons had 30 shots against Gardner-Webb.

Ellington did give the Deacs the all-important insurance goal in the 80th minute. Senior Matt Koh whipped in a corner kick to an unmarked Ellington. The sophomore rose and headed home the goal. The assist was Koh's third in his four-year career.

Saxe was spectacular in net for the Phoenix. The netminder registered 15 saves on the evening and denied four or five golden scoring chances by Wake Forest. Redshirt freshman Brian Edwards was solid in net for the Deacs. Edwards made a pair of saves en route to his fourth shutout this season. Edwards lowered his goals against average to 1.03.

After three consecutive non-conference matches, Wake Forest finally returns to ACC action this Friday evening against the Clemson Tigers. Kickoff is scheduled for Spry Stadium at 7 p.m. The match will also mark Senior Night for the Demon Deacons' seven seniors.
