Wake Forest will join a group of some of the nation's top men's golf teams at the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational Monday and Tuesday in Windermere, FL.
The 54-hole tournament begins with two rounds on Monday, followed by the final 18 holes Tuesday at the Isleworth Country Club, home to PGA Tour stars Tiger Woods, Mark O'Meara, John Cook and others. The course was designed by Wake Forest graduate Arnold Palmer.
Nine of the nation's top 25-ranked teams will be participating in the tournament, hosted by Central Florida. Twelve of the nation's top 16 teams in the tournament are either ranked in the top 25 or are receiving votes in the latest Golf World poll.
Georgia, Florida, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Oklahoma State and Clemson make up the top six in the Oct. 1 Golf World poll and all will participate in the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational. Texas (11th), Vanderbilt (22nd) and Wake Forest (24th) are also ranked in the top 25. Other teams participating include Central Florida, North Carolina, Augusta State, Florida State, Furman, NC State and Toledo.
Deacon coach Jerry Haas plans to use a lineup of three freshmen (Chris McCartin, Dustin Groves and Webb Simpson), one sophomore (Sean Moore) and one junior (Kyle Reifers).
