Women's Soccer Topples NC State, 2-0

WINSTON-SALEM. N.C. -- Sarah Kozey found the back of the cage 18 minutes into the first half and Elizabeth Remy put another one away in the 55th minute, giving the Wake Forest women's soccer team a 2-0 victory over the NC State Wolfpack, Friday night at the SAS Soccer Complex in Raleigh, N.C.. The Deacs improve to 10-5-1 overall and 4-4-0 in the ACC, while the Pack falls to 7-7-2 overall and 1-7-0 in the conference.
Kozey was able to find the net at the 18:43 mark in her first shot of the game with an assist by sophomore Jayme Liegh Cargnoni. The goal for Kozey marks her 11th of the season and 26th overall, which moves her into a tie for third place for the most career goals in Wake Forest history. Kozey is also tied for the second most goals in a single season. If she scores one more she will move into a tie for the top position.
In the second half, Remy was able to give Wake Forest a cushion, scoring off a corner at the 55:28 mark, with Tara Caldwell and Cargnoni picking up the assists.
For the Deacs, Remy knocked off three shots, while Kozey found two of the Deacs 10. For the Pack,Lydia McBath and Erin Griswold both had three shots on goal.
Heather Currie picked up her sixth win and fourth shutout of the season, playing the entire game with four saves. In the goal for NC State, Megan Connors found six saves.
Wake Forest will return to action for its last regular season game against Clemson on Oct. 28.
