Deacons Sign Marc Gladson To Letter Of Intent

Marc Gladson, a highly-touted men's golfer from Cedar Rapids (IA), has signed a letter of intent to attend Wake Forest next fall, Demon Deacon head coach Jerry Haas announced today.

Gladson, the top-ranked junior golfer in Iowa, is a four-time All-Metro selection, four-time fist team All-Conference, first team All-State and he has qualified for three U.S. Junior Amateur Championships. A two-time conference Athlete of the Year, Gladson was a 2004 AJGA All-American and an All-American Scholar Athlete.

Gladson equally combined his skills on the course and in the classroom. He was a member of the National Honor Society for three years and his stroke average last spring was a sterling 69.6.

Gladson finished first at the 2004 AJGA Subaru Open, he finsihed fifth at the 2004 AJGA Windy City Classic in Chicago and finished third at the 2004 Westfield Junior PGA Championship.

"Marc is a very poised, mature young man with good golf fundamentals," Haas said. "He's an excellent wedge player and will be a standout addition to our team."

Gladson's father, Larry Gladson, is a PGA of American golf professional at Elm Crest Country Club in Cedar Rapids.
