Wake Forest head coach Jay Vidovich
On the ways to express disappointment:
"I am not very good at the kind of stuff. Needless to say, we all hurt a little bit. My hats off to VCU. They found a way to survive the game and get a result. They did a great job, they are a quality team and we wish them the best of luck the rest of the tournament."

On the match:
"I thought Wake Forest did enough during the game to put the match away. It just did not fall our way tonight. It sure does seem that Mother Nature has not smiled on us this year. It could have made a difference the type of style that we play. The ball got held up on the line there, but it could have hurt VCU also. They played in it also."

"Nobody on this team is looking for an excuse right now. We felt we played well, took our opportunities and did some great things, but the ball did not seem to bounce our way tonight. They caught us on a counter and a re-start, which we are not happy about. We definitely played well enough to win the game. We just missed and their goalkeeper came up big a couple of times. We had another chance cleared off the line when the ball got stuck in the mud. But, we were good enough to overcome all those things and put the game away."

Wake Forest junior central defender Michael Parkhurst
On the loss:
"It is very disappointing, but as captain of this team I am proud to represent this team because we fought all the way to the end and had a great season. The guys could not been a better bunch of guys to be around the whole season. It was an absolute joy."

"The weather definitely played a factor, but it did for both teams. As much as we want to make that an excuse, we really can't. It is so unfortunate it had to be this way cause our style of play does benefit a dry climate."

VCU head coach Tim O'Sullivan
"I think Saul (VCU goalie) is pretty modest. We knew we were coming in and playing against a great, great Wake Forest team. They got the number one seed for a reason. We did not expect to go to pk's, but we knew that if it did Saul is so good at ready plays and waiting to the final second to make a decision. We had some much confidence in him when we got to pk's. Everyone on the bench knew he was going to save two or three of the penalty kicks."

"He is our leader and wanted to be in that position. That is why he is our captain."

VCU goalkeeper Saul Montero
"I was trying to read the clues from the players. I did very well on the first one, but the second one I was not able to save. From there, I just tried to get my feet. It is not a big deal. You just have to practice and practice. A couple of guys over there (Wake Forest players) had awesome kicks, upper 90. It was great. We played against a great team and it was a great game."

"I think we deserved it. We have been through a lot this season and we just continued to fight through no matter what. The 28 players on this team are committed to go the whole way."

"For me, being a captain, this is a great thing. This speaks about the mentality that we are trying to shape. VCU is starting to get a name around the country. We go straight up and down and pursue our goal."
