Charlene Curtis Weekly ACC Conference Call
"We had a rough night, let's start with that, last night at Maryland. It has kind of been a difficult week. The last time we talked we had a disappointing loss to an improving NC State team here at home. I think our players our struggling to handle that loss and the Virginia loss right before that. Both games we had leads at halftime, but through the course of the second-half we were not able to get those defensive stops to win those games. Then last night, we went to Maryland and just did not play well. Maryland jumped on us and we were playing from behind right from the beginning. We were never able to get on track up there."
"We are looking forward to this week. We are in a stretch of three straight games on the road. We have to go to Duke on Thursday night and then Florida State on Monday night. We are just trying to regroup right now. We are making sure that our kids still have their spirit in them and continue to give the effort it takes to get it back together on the court."
"Liz Strunk, who was ACC Player of the Week last week, had a difficult week for us. We have to get her back on track and Erin Ferrell on track. We have to really tighten up our post defense. We are really looking forward to the opportunity at Duke and Florida State."
On the upcoming game with Duke:
"It is going to be important that we are much more ready to play in the beginning of the game. We were not last time. That was one of our games, similar to Maryland last night, that we were not ready to play and not in the right frame of mind. Duke's pressure defense got to us early. They got an early lead and we never really competed. Traditionally, we have been able once or twice a season to play a very good game against them. It is going to be important that we have the right mindset going into the game in Durham."
