Wake Forest vs. Georgia Tech
Post Game Quotes
Wake Forest Coach Charlene Curtis
On the game:
"I'm just really happy for our players. We've challenged them all year but especially so for this game. We had much more intense practices the whole week but most importantly, the focus and intensity was there for the whole game."
On the final shot:
"We've run that play all year. Cotelia really wanted to take it. We did not want to take a timeout so that Georgia Tech could have a chance to set up its defense. Some people might say it was a lucky shot, but luck is just taking advantage of an opportunity."
On preparation for the ACC Tournament:
"Georgia Tech is the only team we have beaten twice and it is hard to beat a team three times. We still did not shoot the ball well so we're going to have to make a few changes. We're really looking forward to playing. Georgia Tech is really going to come after us and hopefully we'll be fortunate enough to win."
Wake Forest sophomore Liz Strunk
"I knew she wanted to take the shot. She asked me to screen for her so I knew she wanted it. She's been struggling recently but that should give her a lot of confidence. We need to take the ACC Tournament one game at a time. Anything can happen. We have a lot of momentum and confidence going into this weekend. Upsets can happen, that's why they play the games."
Wake Forest sophomore Cotelia Bond-Young
"I knew either we were going to win or at worst, go into overtime. With five seconds to go, I told Liz to set the screen. I went around it and shot the ball. This win will give us momentum going into the tournament. We still have to work hard and it is a hard road."
Wake Forest junior Erin Ferrell
"Every player has a game where they struggle at least once in their career. After the Virginia game, I just kept working hard and spent extra hours in the gym. When you have a bad game, you just need to bounce back and work hard. Today was a great boost for our confidence. We've lost a few tough games this year and it is great to come out on top."
