White, Williams Named to Academic All-ACC Football Team

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Two Wake Forest football players have been named to the 2003 ACC All-Academic team, as announced by the league office on Tuesday. Junior linebacker Brad White and senior free safety Quintin Williams are receiving the honor for the second straight season.
To be eligible, a player must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the fall semester or have maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career. Honorees must have also made a significant contribution on the field during the season.
White, from Portsmouth, R.I. makes his second straight appearance on the squad with a cumulative GPA of 3.32. The team's third leading tackler this season with 78 total stops, White also had five tackles for loss, an interception and two pass break-ups. He's started every game he's played in a Deacon uniform -- a streak of 25 consecutive contests. White is majoring in Analytical Finance while pursuing a Masters in Accountancy.
Williams, a four-year starter, served as captain in all 12 games this past season. He ranked second on the squad with 88 total tackles, including 60 solo stops. The Goldsboro, N.C. product also had four tackles-for-loss and five PBU in addition to leading the ACC with three fumble recoveries. Williams closed out his career ranking 18th on WFU's career solo tackles chart (175) and seventh with 24 career pass break-ups. An English major who has also been a repeat performer on the CoSIDA Academic All-District team, Williams has a cumulative GPA of 3.22.
The Deacon duo is one of 11 players on the 46-member team who are making their second appearance on the ACC All-Academic squad. Since its inception in 1954, Wake Forest has had 89 selections to the team.
