WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest football team wraps up spring practice drills this Saturday, April 3, with a final scrimmage at Groves Stadium. The Demon Deacons will begin practice at 11:00 and work in position groups for the first hour. A live, offense vs. defense scrimmage will begin at 12 noon and run approximately one hour.

The football team began spring practice on March 1. Over the course of the last month, the Deacs have held 14 sessions leading up to Saturday's final scrimmage. Teams are allotted 15 days of spring practice per NCAA regulations.

Fans are invited to come out to Groves Stadium to watch the action. Admission is free.

Bill Faircloth to be honored with re-naming of Football Center foyer
Prior to Saturday's football scrimmage, Bill Faircloth, WFU's Assistant Athletic Director for Football, will be honored with a dedication ceremony. The foyer of the recently remodeled Pruitt Football Center will be named the "Bill Faircloth Foyer." The dedication ceremony takes place at 10:30 a.m. on the lawn in front of the Pruitt Football Center (adjacent to the Manchester Athletic Center). Following the ceremony, tours of the new football wing will be available.

Faircloth, affectionately referred to as "Big Daddy" by the Deacon players and coaching staff, is currently in his 20th year as an administrator for football. He spent the previous five years, including the 1979 Tangerine Bowl season, as a Deacon assistant coach. A 1964 graduate of Wake Forest, Faircloth was a three-year letterwinner, team captain and Academic All-ACC selection. He and his wife, Becky, have three sons, all of whom are WFU graduates as well.
