
Deacon Golfers Earn Bid To NCAA East Regional

Wake Forest's 16th-ranked men's golf team earned a bid to the NCAA East Regional May 20-22 at the Yale Golf Course in New Haven, CT. The Demon Deacons will be the No. 7 seed at the East Regional.
Wake Forest has earned an NCAA Regional bid in each of the last five years and in 15 of the last 16 years. The Deacons, three-time NCAA champions, finished sixth last year in the East Regional in Auburn, AL, qualifying them for the NCAA Championship.
Three regional tournaments, encompassing the current nine regions, will be conducted May 20-22. A total of 27 teams and six individuals have been selected for each regional competition with 10 teams and two individuals advancing from each regional to the championships finals. The championships will be conducted June 1-4 at Cascades Golf Course, The Homestead, in Hot Springs, VA.
Wake Forest is coming off a second-place finish at the April 16-18 ACC Championship. Just one senior, national player of the year Bill Haas, is in the Deacon lineup. Freshman Sean Moore won individual medalist honors at the ACC Championship.
The East Regional participants, in seeded order, are Florida, Clemson, Georgia, Georgia Tech, South Carolina, Augusta State, Wake Forest, Duke, Tennessee, North Carolina, LSU, Georgia State, Jacksonville State, NC State, UAB, Auburn, Vanderbilt, Georgia Southern, Penn State, Georgetown, Towson, Rhode Island, Maryland, Binghamton, Yale, Army and Long Island.
