Wake Forest Women's Basketball Releases 2004-05 Schedule

Winston-Salem, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's basketball program and the Atlantic Coast Conference released the 2004-05 schedule on Thursday, which includes 27 regular season games, 15 of which will be played at home and three which will be televised on the Regional Sports Network. All three televised games will take place against ACC opponents, with the first being the conference opener against NC State on January 3. Wake Forest will again find time on the air against ACC newcomers Virginia Tech on January 31. The Demon Deacons will round out its television appearances against Clemson on February 21. The Demon Deacons will begin the season with a trip to Hampton, Va., where they will face the Pirates on November 19, before hosting five in a row against Princeton, Stetson, Davidson, North Carolina A&T and Providence College. On December 12, the Deacs will travel to East Carolina University, where Wake Forest will look to avenge the heartbreaking 68-64 loss from last season. On December 17-18, the Deacons will travel to the tropics, where they will face University of Houston and Oklahoma State University at the Hala Moana Hotel Paradise Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii, both schools that the Deacs will be meeting for the first time. Returning to the mainland, Wake will play host to Loyola College-Baltimore on December 21 and Alabama A&M on December 18, before closing out the year at Kentucky on December 30. Wake Forest will open ACC action against NC State on January 3, a game which will be televised on FSN. On January 6, the Deacs will host Virginia, before traveling to Miami. Playing through the conference schedule, the Demon Deacons will look towards the ACC tournament, March 4-7. Under the direction of new head coach Mike Petersen, the Wake Forest women's basketball team returns four starters and 11 letterwinners, including last season's points and rebounds leader, Liz Strunk. The 6-1 junior from Chattanooga, Tenn., closed the 2003-04 season averaging 13.3 points per game with 5.1 boards. In addition to the 41-game television schedule, ACC Women's Basketball will be featured in a nationally-televised hour-long preview show on FSN. The show is slated for November 28, at 5:00 pm and will be followed by the ACC Men's Basketball preview show at 6:00 pm.
