First Day Of Two-A-Days One week after reporting to fall camp, Wake Forest endured its first two-a-day practice session on Monday. They'll go through two-a-day sessions on Wednesday and Friday as well. Today's practices included a two-hour morning session in shells (helmets and shoulder pads) and a slightly longer practice in full pads this afternoon. Several Deacons sat out of the afternoon session with minor injuries. Head Coach Jim Grobe on the first day of two-a-days: "We've already had six practices coming into today, so it was no big deal really. I thought we got some good work done. We really didn't turn up the tempo yet, we've kept it at the same tempo as last week. "We've got a bunch of bumps and bruises and that kind of thing, but that's typical. Most of the guys that are dinged up are veteran guys and they know how take care of their injuries." Grobe on the concern of practicing in consistently cooler weather: "If Clemson was practicing in 100-degree weather and we were practicing in the 70s, I would be concerned, but I think we're dealing with pretty much the same weather. Even some of the Florida teams have been concerned about the cooler weather. I'm sure it will be hot when we go to Clemson, but we can't worry about that right now." On The Sideline: Junior running back Cornelius Birgs sat out this afternoon's practice after banging up his knee in the morning practice. Junior guard Greg Adkins sat out after aggravating his ankle. Junior safety Dominic Anderson sat out to rest a sore knee. Sophomore quarterback Cory Randolph (hamstring) and junior running back Chris Barclay (groin) both limited their workout in the afternoon session. Upcoming Practice Schedule: The Deacons will practice once on Thursday, from 9 a.m. until noon. Wednesday calls for an intra-squad scrimmage at the stadium in the morning, followed by an afternoon practice session on campus. Here is the team's practice schedule for the next couple days: Tuesday, August 17 9:00 a.m.-Noon (Campus Field) Wednesday, August 18 9:00-11:30 a.m. (Groves Stadium) 3:30-6:00 p.m. (Campus Field) Thursday, August 19 2:45-5:45 p.m. (Campus Field) Player Q&A's on the Web: Visit www.WakeForestSports.com for the latest information on the Deacon football team.
