Wake Forest Assistant Athletic Trainer Adam Pecina has been in Athens, Greece for nearly three weeks as the trainer for the U.S. men's and women's tennis teams. This is his third in a series of reports from Athens. Working with the tennis teams here in Athens was quite a thrill. I felt like I got to know them all relatively well in the short time we were together. Some of the best memories i will carry away are some of the fun, unexpected moments we had during the long, long practice days. For instance, watching Mardy and Andy Roddick take batting practice with the handle of their rackets after a tough day of practice. They sent quite a few out of the stadium. I am said to say that I only managed to reach the upper deck once. On another occasion, Martina Navratilova had me toss her a few tennis balls underhanded to her. With one of the singles net sticks, she sent a few whizzing by my head. Wouldn't you know it; the very next pitch she sent a rocket off of my forehead. We all got a pretty good laugh out of it. I'll miss them all. They were great to work with and a joy to be around.
