Winston-Salem, N.C. - Wake Forest redshirt freshman running back Micah Andrews was selected as the ACC Rookie of the Week in a vote by a panel of the league's media on Tuesday.
Andrews ran for a game-high 125 yards on 17 carries for three touchdowns in Wake Forest's 42-3 victory against North Carolina A&T. The yards and touchdowns were the most by a Deacon player in his first college game.
He became the first Wake Forest freshman to rush for three touchdowns since Chris Barclay did it in 2002 at Purdue. The 125 yards were the sixth-most by a Deacon freshman.
The native of Duluth, Ga., and graduate of Greater Atlanta Christian High School, is the fourth Wake Forest individual to earn conference honors through the first three weeks of the season. The Deacons have had two offensive backs of the week, including Barclay and Cory Randolph, and two rookies of the week, Jonathan Abbate and now Andrews.
