Wake Forest Head Coach Jim Grobe
On the script against Boston College:
"It was Deac ball. That is what the kids have termed it. We do not do anything real pretty, but we stay pretty competitive."
On the game:
"I was real disappointed that we did not play better in the second-half, especially in the fourth-quarter when we put our defense on the field too much. We never got the running game going and did not have any consistency at all. Then, when we needed one drive we got it. I am proud of our kids, obviously.
On Cory Randolph's first-half performance:
"We were laughing about it early in the game. It seems like the first-half against Boston College (including last season) he does not play. He seemed really tight and at the start of the game it seemed like he was forcing things while making a couple of mental mistakes. I think once we got Ben in he relaxed a little bit and kind of calmed down. He certainly played great the last series."
On strategy after the last missed field goal:
"It gave us a little bit of a lift, but either way we knew we had to score a touchdown. I think we got a little bit of lift out of our crowd. I think it lifted our kids up because we had 80 yards to go and that's not something you look forward to, but I just think there was little energy. When we had the chance to get it done, then that offense group took it down."
On Eric King:
"He's our most steady guy. I think he had to go against some good receivers today. He's somebody that you take for granted really because he plays so steady."
On the absence of Jason Anderson:
"The other receivers have to step up. I thought we did some good things, but it hurts us as much as anything because he's our big play guy. He's always good for a couple big plays a game. You have to be a little bit more patient with the rest of our receiving game and we have to take what they give us. Chris Davis was basically replacing Jason today. He's trying and works very hard."
Junior Quarterback Cory Randolph
On his touchdown pass to Willie Idlette:
"It wasn't my best throw of the day, but it was definitely the most meaningful. Willie ran a great route and the line did a great job and I just got it in there. We have a lot of work to do still. I'll go back and look at some film and work on getting my reads off quicker. We'll come back on Monday and get ready for NC State."
On being 3-1 instead of 2-2:
"It's definitely a plus to be 3-1, but you can't celebrate this win too long. We'll celebrate this weekend and be ready to play NC State, a tough NC State at NC State next weekend. We'll enjoy this win, it's great to be 3-1, but it's a long season. We still have seven games to play and it's a big win for us, but we have a lot of work left."
On the BC's missed field goal late in the fourth:
"We knew that whether he missed it or made it, we still needed to score seven points. Coach Mullen came over and told us to forget what had happened the whole game and that this was our chance to resurrect it. We just went out there and got the job done."
On staying in the game:
"Every game is not going to be your best game. We just had to keep plugging away. Their defense did a great job stalemating some drives that we had. In a game like this, you just have to keep plugging away. We had some things open up for us down the stretch and we just kept plugging away."
Senior Linebacker Brad White
On the game:
"We didn't believe that we were done. This is the best team that I've been on that as far as never giving up, never thinking were done. Look at the Clemson game when we were down 19-3, we fought all the way back. This team never gives up. We didn't think we were done. We were planning on the bench after we scored our two-minute defense and how we were going to stop them. We knew we were going to win. We just have to go into NC State and play tough."
On being 3-1 instead of 2-2:
"This is definitely one of those gateway games. 2-2 is so much different than 3-1. I think that game four is so crucial. No other game other than game four means so much. 2-2 is a totally different mindset than 3-1. Coming in 3-1 to a tough game at NC State, we have a lot of confidence. I feel if we were 2-2 going into NC State we would be thinking that we were digging out of a hole. We're not up the mountain yet, but we're getting there. We just have to keep climbing and climbing."
Sophomore Receiver Willie Idlette
On his game winning touchdown catch:
"Going out on the field, we knew how the linebackers were going to wall us to the outside. I just got a good step on the linebacker and Cory put it in a place where only I could catch it. Easily enough, I had enough room on the sideline to turn it up and run. The safety dove for the ball and he came really close to tipping it. Inches. He may have even grazed it."
"I just knew that we have a lot of different routes built into that play. I just gave the linebacker a little move and luckily got past him, ran a corner route caught it and turn around and ran it. Cory put it in a place where only I could get it. The safety got close but only I could catch it.
On the momentum of a win:
"It's definitely a huge momentum swing. We're definitely going to use this win to our advantage and go down into NC State next week."
Boston College Head Coach Tom O'Brien
On the the comparison of this year and last year's games:
"No it doesn't feel like last year's game. We just did not capitalize on key plays. We had over 400 yards of offense but only scored 14 points. We just have to regroup since this was our first loss."
On the kicking games effect on the loss:
"It had none. We played as a team and we lose as a team."
On BC's offense:
"We did not capitalize on key plays. With 400-plus yards of offense, we did not score enough points."
On Wake Forest's offense:
"They ran more reverses, ran the ball more and have a running quarterback. This changes the aspect of the game."
On second half tempo:
"We played as a team and we lose as a team. We just didn't capitalize on plays that could have put us ahead."
Boston College Junior Cornerback Will Blackmon
On the game:
"We wanted to come out strong in the second half and regain tempo which I feel we did. I don't want to point fingers at any one person, we win and lose as team."
On Cory Randolph's performance:
"Randolph did great today especially with the option. He is a talented quarterback and he makes that play look really good."
On Wake Forest:
"Wake Forest plays hard but we are a better team. They executed very well and played to our mistakes. They represented their hometown well."
On the Wake Forest's final scoring play:
"We were in a cover two, I didn't see the receiver and he made a good play. "
Boston College Freshman Kicker Ryan Ohliger
On the game:
"I'm speechless. I feel like I lost the game for Boston College. They played their hearts out and I lost it. I didn't feel comfortable on my last kick. Everyone did great. It was a great snap, the line blocked well and I just took my eye off the ball. The fans got in my head. I have to keep my head up. I need to come back next week strong for a victory. The weight of letting everyone down in unbearable."
Boston College Senior Quarterback Paul Peterson
On the game:
"The mistakes caught up to us. The last drive was frustrating at the end. We better rebound and we are going to. Our defense did awesome and our offense as well but we have to step it up more, I didn't play good enough. We played hard-nose Boston College football but let up at the end. We had plenty of time to make things happen on our last drive but did not execute."
On Wake Forest:
"I give Wake Forest credit. They had a great last drive. Eric King is a great player and it's hard to convert on third down with him out there."
