Deacons Take 7th, 14th, 36th At ECU Pirate Invitational

GREENVILLE, NC - Two Wake Forest golfers - sophomore Chad Wilcox and senior Barr Blanton - finished in the top 14 at the ECU Pirate Invitational, a 54-hole tournament completed here today.

The Demon Deacons did not compete in the team race, but Wilcox, Blanton and junior Matt McLean all participated as individuals.

Wilcox shot a 2-over par 74 today at the Bradford Creek Golf Club to finish 1-over par for the tournament and tied for seventh. Blanton turned in a 3-over par 75 today and finished tied for 14th overall with a 54-hole total of 5-over. McLean, seeing his first tournament action in two years, shot a 7-over 79 today and finished 12-over for the event.

Wilcox finished six strokes off the pace as East Carolina golfers Robin Smith and Chris Ault shared individual honors with a tournament total of 5-under. East Carolina won the team title by two strokes over Campbell.

Wake Forest's next team competition is October 23-25 at the Isleworth Invitational in Orlando, FL.
