Wake Forest head coach Skip Prosser
"Today was a good win for us. Princeton will be fine once they get into league play. They are in a tough stretch right now. We were able to keep their shooting percentage in the 30's, but the one way they can certainly hurt you is with shooting 3-pointers. Last game, they were 2-for-20 so we were certain they would shoot better today. We have an inclination to cure people's shooting woes. Overall, we did not shoot free throws well at all and the 17 turnovers was very, very disconcerting, but our team is going to try and get better every time out. We certainly took a step forward today."
On what the team might have learned about Princeton's style that can help them against Richmond on Thursday:
"You can't simulate Princeton's stuff in three days of practice. Having said that, Coach Kelsey and the guys on our scout team did about as good a job as you can do. Every year that we play against this style we try to learn another nuance. While they did shoot 3-pointers well, I thought for the most part we guarded the Princeton stuff pretty good. We will have to guard the style better against Richmond because we will be on the road and they will be more athletic. That will present different challenges."
On the difference in rebounding tonight as opposed to the loss against DePaul:
"Among many things, we were really, really disappointed with how we rebounded the ball against DePaul the other night. Rebounding has been a staple for us in the four years since we got here. I thought we did a much better job on the glass today being far more aggressive."
On opening the game in the full-court press:
"We were trying to shorten the shot clock more than anything. It is hard enough to guard that stuff for 30 seconds and we were trying to get it down to 25 seconds. We were not necessarily going to steal the ball and I don't think we did, but we did shorten the shot clock some."
On the 15-0 run late in the second-half:
"We guarded and got some easy baskets. We were guarding well the entire second-half, but we might get a stop or turnover and give it right back to them. Stops equal spurts, but your team has to convert them with a good percentage. We had the same problem against DePaul. We stopped them for a series of possessions, but we did not convert on the other end."
On mixing in the zone when the team plays primarily a man-to-man defense style:
"We needed to work on our zone so that is why we played a little of it today. It turned out to be a sure fire remedy for their shooting woes. We played exclusively man-to-man against DePaul and got torched so the zone is something we will have to do more often as the season progresses."
Princeton head coach Joe Scott
"I thought we played pretty well for awhile. We are young and we wore down in the second-half. They are a good team which contributes to us wearing down. They are a little more experience and we are very young. It was a tough, hard fought game and they maintained it and we did not. That is too their credit. It was why they won the game today."
On the better shooting percentage today than last time out:
"It is just a result of having a young team. We play well at times and we do not play well at times. The other night was an aberration. People want to make a big deal about it, but who cares. We lost that game. We did not shoot it well, turned the ball over and just played poorly. Today, we played pretty well for 30 out of the game's 40 minutes."
On the end of the first-half:
"The last two minutes of the first-half killed us. We gave up three 3-pointers. We played terrific up to that point, but we were not able to sustain for the entire first-half. It is called being young. It is called playing freshmen and sophomores. It is called playing a good team."
Things his team can take from a game like this:
"I like the things I see from our team. We have some potential for growth. It was definitely good for us to come and play this game. They made our weaknesses show up in critical moments of the game. We know what they are and we have to work to get better at them."
