WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's basketball team hits the road to face Rice on Thursday, Dec. 22, before taking a short holiday break. The Demon Deacons are coming off a dominating 101-38 victory over Lipscomb University earlier in the week, which improved their overall record to 5-3.

Against the Bisons, it was the freshman class that stood out, with three newcomers scoring in double figures and Alex Tchangoue with a career-high 18 rebounds. Deirdre Naughton, who is averaging 12.1 points per game, scored in double digits for the eighth time this season with 13 points, while Yolanda Lavender and Corinne Groves added 10 and 14 points respectively.

Rice enters the game fresh off an 80-65 win over Loyola Marymount. Junior forward Lauren Neaves, the Conference USA preseason player of the year, leads Rice in scoring and rebounding, averaging 13.6 points and 10.6 boards a game. She is tied for 16th nationally in rebounding, and is also averaging two blocked shots a game.

The meeting between the Owls and the Deacons will be the first.
