Deacon Student-Athletes Help With Lift Up America

Members of the Wake Forest football and baseball teams took part Wednesday in the Lift Up America "Hometown Day" at the Hanes Mall LensCrafters in Winston-Salem.

Through the efforts of Lift Up America, 41 children received free eye examinations and a free pair of glasses. Demon Deacon student-athletes from the football and baseball teams assistated with refreshments, greeting the kids and helping the kids feel good about wearing glasses.

Dave Hannah, Chairman/CEO of Lift Up America, said that by the end of next week, some 60,000 less fortunate families in 23 cities benefited from the program. Between 25,000 and 40,000 eye exams and brand new glasses given by LensCrafter/Pearle Vision were distrubted across the nation.
