Winston-Salem, N.C. - Atlantic Coast Conference commissioner John Swofford announced Tuesday that Wake Forest seniors Blake Lingruen and Brad White were among the members of the 2004 All-ACC Academic Football team.
Lingruen, a senior from Liberty Center, Ohio, earned a 3.00 grade point average in communications and graduated in December. He was the veteran leader on the offensive line. Lingruen started all 11 games for the Demon Deacons at center. He helped pave the way for Wake Forest to rank second in the ACC and 17th nationally in rushing offense.
White, a senior from Portsmouth, R.I., earned a 3.5 grade point average in analytical finance while simultaneously pursuing his gradate degree in accountancy. A repeat selection to the All-ACC Academic Football Team, he is on pace to earn both degrees this spring. White started nine games at linebacker as a senior and was the team's fourth-leading tackler. He recorded 7.5 tackles for loss and returned a Florida State fumble 36 yards for a touchdown in one of the 2004 season's most memorable moments.
To be eligible, a player must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the fall semester or have maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career
