Women's Soccer Kicks Off Spring Season

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's soccer team will kick off its spring season this weekend with a pair of games against USC and College of Charleston, in Columbia, South Carolina.
Only graduating one senior this past fall, the Demon Deacons will return to the field with juniors Melanie Schneider and Sarah Kozey at the helm. Kozey, a forward from Halifax, Nova Scotia, led the Deacs in scoring in 2004, tying the school record of 12. Playing in the midfield, Scheider was also able to contribute to Wake Forest's 10 season victories with six goals and two assists.
In 2004 Wake Forest had another successful year, earing the programs ninth berth to the NCAA Tournamentand a 10-7-2 overall record and a 4-4-1 conference mark. This spring, the Deacs will play a minimum of six games, including a rematch against ACC conference foes, Virginia Tech on April 6 at Spry Stadium. The last time the two teams met, Wake fell in a close 2-3 match early in 2004.
