Former Demon Deacon Ryan Caugherty Signs In Denmark

Wake Forest product Ryan Caugherty and Danish second division side B1909 have agreed to a deal that will bring the young American to the club for the duration of the current Danish season.
Caugherty played in 74 career games and started 50 for the Demon Deacons. In 2004, the midfielder played in 20 games, starting 13. He scored two goals and added two assists, including the gamewinning assist in the 1-0 regular season overtime victory over FIU. Wake Forest was 11-2 in the 13 matches he started.
Caugherty, who spent a little over two weeks on trial with the team, was very impressive according to head coach Tommy Moller-Nielsen.
"Ryan made a very good impression," Nielsen said. "He came here with a perfect attitude. A very professional attitude."
"I was very impressed with his work rate and he is quite skillful as well for a holding midfielder."
Caugherty has traveled back to the United States for personal reasons, but will be rejoining his new teammates on Wednesday of next week.
B1909 play their first match of the second half of the season on March 20th and the door is wide open for a longer stay if Caugherty continues to impress.
"We have agreed to a short deal to see how [Ryan] likes it and to see if this is for him," Nielsen said.
"I am quite optimistic that we can offer him a longer deal after the season ends in June."
