WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's basketball schedule, which includes 26 games and three televised appearances, was announced today by the Atlantic Coast Conference.

"There is a ton of work to do before the season starts, but we are looking forward to the challenge of competing in the ACC," said Petersen. "Our conference should be the most competitive from top to bottom in the country and we are focused on being ready for that challenge."

Coming off the first winning season since 1990-91 and the first postseason berth since 1987-88, the Demon Deacons will face 10 teams that made it into postseason play last season. Of the 26 game slate, Wake Forest will host 13, including eight home ACC match-ups.

The first of the three televised appearances will be at Georgia Tech on Jan. 22 at 1:00 p.m. The second television game will be Jan. 27 against defending ACC Champion, North Carolina. In the final TV game appearance, Wake Forest will host Clemson, a team that the Deacs have played on television each of the past three years. In the last meeting with the Tigers, senior Liz Strunk scored a record-breaking 40 points.

Wake Forest will open the year with a string of 13 non-conference games, including the home opener against Mercer, a team that the Deacs have not faced since 1988. Wake Forest will then travel to Davidson and Towson to close out the month of November.

Opening the month of December, Wake will travel to Chicago, Ill. for the Mildred L & Roger White Invitational. Renewing rivalries with Northwestern and St. John's, the Deacs pick up a new one up with Miami University. The Deacs haven't faced the Wildcats since 1994, while the last and only meeting against the Redstorm was in 1991.

Wake will host UNC Greensboro, Coppin State and Lipscomb at Lawrence Joel Coliseum before traveling to Rice prior to the Christmas break. Rounding out the end of the month, Wake Forest plays Richmond on the road before return home with Kentucky on Dec. 31st.

The Deacs open conference play with two of the top schools in the ACC. After playing at Duke on Jan. 2, the Deacs will return to action on Jan. 7 against NC State at home. With the addition of Boston College to the ACC, the Deacs will play NC State, Clemson and Virginia Tech both home and away, while playing the remainder of the ACC just once. In addition to playing the 14-game conference schedule, the Deacs will break away on Feb. 22 for a non-conference game against Savannah State.

Wake Forest opens the year with an exhibition game against Winston-Salem State on Nov. 3. The game against the cross-town rivals is scheduled as a double-header with the men's team.
