All the news you need to know before Thursday's season opener against Vanderbilt. But first, a note about ESPNU:
ESPNU is a new channel affiliated with ESPN, just like ESPN2 and ESPN Classic. It launched in March and hasn't yet been picked up on a widespread basis by national cable operators. Some cable companies do have ESPNU, but most do not. It is available, however, on DirecTV through the premium sports package.
Fans looking for the game on Thursday vs. Vanderbilt should call their local cable operator and find out if they carry ESPNU. If your cable company doesn't carry the network, fans can still watch the game on DirecTV. That can happen in their own home, or at a restaurant or sports bar that has DirecTV. Any sports bar that has DirecTV will most likely have ESPNU.
ESPNU is a network in its infancy and it takes time to convince the national cable companies to add this channel to their lineup. As more and more people demand the channel from their local cable providers, more of them will pick it up.
