Winston-Salem, N.C. - The 2005 Wake Forest/ACC/WCC Challenge All-Tournament Team was announced Sunday following the conclusion of the tournament.
Two goalkeepers were chosen to represent the team, Wake Forest's Kaitlyn Doe and Santa Clara's Julie Ryder.
Five Deacons earned honors including junior defender Jayme Leigh Cargnoni, freshman midfielder Camelyn Dillon, junior defender Keisha Garrick, senior midfielder Melanie Schneider, and junior forward Elizabeth Remy.
Four Santa Clara players earned all-tournament honors including freshman midfielder Amanda Poach, sophomore midfielder Brittany Klein, junior defender Marian Dalmy, and junior defender Lauren Zealer.
Three San Diego players and two Virginia Tech players rounded out the team. The Toreros were represented by junior midfielder Leigh Ann Robinson, freshman midfielder Nichole Carriaga, and senior forward Lee Klopschinski. The Hokies placed freshman forward Mary Elizabeth Puglisi and sophomore forward Ashley Stinson on the team.
Garrick was named defensive MVP, while Remy earned offensive MVP honors.
Wake Forest won the tournament tie-breaker by scoring more total goals (five) than Santa Clara (three). The two teams each finished with a 1-0-1 record for the tournament.
