The 16th-ranked Wake Forest men's soccer team will take part in the Carolina Nike Classic for the third straight season. The Demon Deacons will open with South Carolina at 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 9, followed by a Sunday afternoon affair with Rutgers at 1 p.m. Both matches will be played at Fetzer Field.
In 2004, the Deacons captured the tournament title with victories over VCU, 1-0, and FIU, 3-2, both in overtime. The previous season, Wake Forest tied St. Louis, 1-1, before blanking Akron, 2-0.
