Recap | Final Stats

Wake Forest head coach Mike Petersen

On the game:

"You can't get out rebounded 50-34 and win a college basketball game. Their size shouldn't bother us. It bothered us tonight because we didn't block out enough on the boards. I think we played really hard. I got no beef with our effort, with our competitiveness, with anything. However, when a team gets 20 offensive rebounds that means we weren't physical enough."

On Maryland's 9-0 run to end the game:

"It was a complete and total breakdown on the defense. We are supposed to double down. We were doubling on it all game and they had real trouble with it. Then we go back-to-back times and the double doesn't get set. We messed up there."

Maryland head coach Brenda Frese

On tonight's game:

"It was a heck of a game on both ends. I thought Wake Forest came out, was really inspired and played really hard. We really had a difficult time with a lot of their stuff. I thought they shot the ball extremely well. I'm really proud of the fact that we gained a lot of confidence. Obviously this is our third overtime game, but we really believe in ourselves and are able to stick together. We just came off a difficult stretch: four games in 10 days, and three of the four on the road. I feel proud of the fact that we've been able to get through this difficult stretch and be able to find ways to win."

On the ability to take it to a new level in overtime:

"Obviously both teams hate to lose. I know our team especially hates to lose and loves to win. We're just really able to stay focused and continue to keep playing inspired. We just did another tremendous job in the overtime."
