WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - A pair of Washington, D.C. area players have signed national letters-of-intent to play basketball at Wake Forest next season, Demon Deacon head coach Mike Petersen announced today.

Forward Kem Wilson (Frederick, Md.) and point guard Camille Collier (Washington, D.C.) officially committed to join the Demon Deacon women's basketball family by signing their letters-of-intent on Thursday evening.

"We are delighted to have Kem and Camille join our program. Both are outstanding students in addition to being excellent basketball players," said Petersen. "We were able to address our immediate needs on the perimeter by signing these two student-athletes."

Wilson, a 5-10 forward out of Thomas Johnson High School, is rated as the No. 45 best recruit and No. 8 forward in the nation by Michael White of the All-Star Report. Dan Olson of the Collegiate Girls Basketball Report ranked Wilson as the No. 33 recruit and No. 11 best forward in the country.

Wilson was named the Thomas Johnson team MVP each of the last two seasons, as well as the Monocacy Valley Athletic League Co-Conference Player of the Year in 2005. She is a two-time first team All-MVAL honoree and a two-time first team all-conference selection by both the Frederick News Post and the Frederick Gazette. Wilson was also named to the Adidas Top Ten Camp All-Star Team in 2004.

"Kem is an outstanding athlete who has the ability to score and defend at a very high level," commented Petersen. "She has great versatility in that she can score from the perimeter as well as near the goal. Her athletic ability will allow her to make a smooth transition both offensively and defensively to the college game."

Collier, a 5-6 point guard out of Sidwell Friends Schools, is rated as the No. 100 best recruit and No. 27 point guard in the nation by the All-Star Report.

Collier has been named to the All-Independent School League Team each of the past two seasons. She was selected as an Adidas Top 10 Camp All-Star in 2006. Collier has also earned all-tournament honors at the 2006 Sidwell Tournament and the 2006 Peach State Hoops Tournament.

"Camille is a scoring point guard with great range on her jump shot," said Petersen. "She is a creative passer and is used to playing up tempo. Her scoring and passing should give her an opportunity to adjust quickly to playing at this level."

The addition of Wilson and Collier will give Wake Forest five players from the Washington, D.C. area on its 2007-08 roster.

The Demon Deacons open up their 2006-07 season tonight when they play Indiana at 6 p.m. in the Women's Sports Foundation Classic in Lexington, Ky.
