Wake Forest freshman guard Ishmael Smith was named the ACC Rookie of the Week Monday after breaking the Demon Deacon freshman record for assists with 11 against James Madison on Saturday.

Smith, 5-11, broke the WFU freshman record of 10 assists previously shared by Chris Paul, Derrick McQueen and Shamaine Dukes.

Smith registered a double-double in the 91-82 win over James Madison. He scored 12 points to go with his 11 assists, grabbed five rebounds and had three steals.
