Wake Forest plays on the road Wednesday against one of college basketball's early surprises as the Demon Deacons take on Air Force in Colorado Springs, Colo. (Fox Sports South/9:30 p.m. ET).

The Demon Deacons, 5-0, are coming off wins over Vanderbilt (last Tuesday) and Appalachian State (Saturday) by identical 88-78 scores. In the win over ASU, Wake Forest never trailed as senior center Kyle Visser earned his second double-double of the season.

Visser (19.6 ppg and 9.2 rpg) is at or near the top of the ACC statistics for scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage (.720) and blocks (1.8 bpg). Freshman Ishmael Smith (12.6 ppg and 8.4 apg) leads the league in assists and controls Wake's up-tempo offense.

Air Force, 6-1, has put together an impressive early-season resume. The Falcons, whose only loss came to Duke in Kansas City, own a 34-point road win at Stanford and a 38-point road victory at Colorado. In addition, Air Force beat Texas Tech by 14 points.

The Falcons, who are receiving votes for both major national polls, are coming off an 83-59 win over visiting Radford last Wednesday. Dan Nwaelele tied his career-high with 23 points and Jacob Burtschi added 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead Air Force.

Air Force will be playing just its third game in Colorado Springs. Wednesday's game will be played at the Colorado Springs World Arena, not USAFA's Clune Arena.

Wednesday's game will be just the second meeting between the Deacons and Falcons. Wake Forest beat Air Force 84-44 in the second game of the 2000-01 season in Winston-Salem.
