Wake Forest Plays Red-Hot DePaul Wednesday Night In Windy City

Wake Forest, coming off a week of final exams, faces another huge test Wednesday night near Chicago against a streaking DePaul team (9 p.m. ET/ESPNU).

The Demon Deacons, 5-2, are looking to snap a two-game losing streak. Wake Forest hasn't played since an 87-86 home loss to Georgia on Dec. 2.

Wake has been paced by senior center Kyle Visser and freshman point guard Ishmael Smith. Visser has been one of the top players so far in the ACC. He ranks second in the league in scoring (19.7 ppg), third in rebounding (8.9 rpg) and he leads the ACC in field goal percentage (.712). Smith leads the ACC in assists (55) and ranks second on the team in scoring (11.4 ppg).

DePaul, 4-4, heads to UAB Saturday afternoon with a two-game win streak. The Blue Demons upset Kansas, 64-57, on Dec. 2 and whipped Chicago State, 83-56, Dec. 6.

The Blue Demons, coached by former Wake Forest assistant Jerry Wainwright, have been led by sophomore forward Wilson Chandler (14.0 ppg and 6.5 rpg) and senior guard Sammy Mejia (13.9 ppg).

DePaul's roster includes junior center Wesley Green, the son of former Wake Forest great Kenny Green. The younger Green scored 13 points against the Deacons last season in an 84-81 DePaul victory in Joel Coliseum.

Wake Forest leads the all-time series, 2-1. The Deacons have never previously played the Blue Demons in Chicago.
