WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's basketball team remains at the Joel Coliseum for the second straight game, looking to pick up another ACC victory against Virginia, Saturday, Feb. 18 at 3 p.m.
The Demon Deacons are coming off a strong 82-70 routing of Clemson. Against the Tigers, Wake Forest had a record-breaking day, hitting 16 three pointers. In addition, the Deacs had three players score 20-plus points for the second time in school history. The last time the Deacs had three players with more than 20 points was in the 1991 season.
If the Deacs defeat the Cavaliers, it will be just the third time in the series history. Wake Forest last won against Virginia in 2002-03, which cracked a 49-game winning streak by the Virginia. A victory will also mark the first time that since 2003-04 that the Deacs have compiled four conference victories.
Virginia comes to Winston-Salem with a 13-10 overall record and a 2-9 mark in the conference. Virginia's pair of ACC wins come from Virginia Tech and Miami -- both teams that the Deacs have already faced. Having stepped out of conference action with a victory over Longwood, Virginia is currently riding a six game ACC losing streak.
