Women's Soccer Announces 2006 Schedule

Winston-Salem, N.C. - The 2006 Wake Forest women's soccer schedule was announced on Wednesday. The Deacons will face nine foes that reached the NCAA Tournament last season, including College Cup participant Florida State who lost in the semifinals. Wake Forest will also participate in two tournaments in the fall - the Santa Clara/adidas Tournament and the Virginia Tech Classic.
After opening up the season with a scrimmage at Ohio State, Wake Forest will travel to Santa Clara to compete in the tournament. The Deacs will tangle with the Broncos of Santa Clara on Friday, Aug. 25 before facing the Stanford Cardinal on the following Sunday.
Wake Forest will return to Winston-Salem to play its home opener against Syracuse on Friday, Sept. 1 at 7:00 pm. The Deacs also host Wyoming that weekend on Sunday. The team will then travel to Blacksburg to compete in the VT Classic on Sept. 8-10. Wake Forest will battle NCAA participant Liberty on Friday and James Madison on Sunday.
Wake Forest will open the conference slate at Virginia on Thursday, Sept. 21. The home conference opener will be Sept. 28 against the Maryland Terrapins. Wake Forest will also play host to Boston College, Duke and Florida State, while traveling to Virginia Tech, NC State, Clemson, Miami and North Carolina.
