Today's Practice: Full Pads
Weather: 79 degrees with rain showers on and off
Notes: Wednesday's practice marked the first of the 2006 preseason in full pads. The excitement was evident. Despite some rain over the first hour of practice, Wake Forest went through a 24-period practice session that lasted just shy of two and a half hours. The Deacs' first team skill position players and first team defense battled through 6-on-6 drills. QB Benjamin Mauk looked sharp going through his progressions against different blitz packages.
Snapshot: A college football player will do just about anything to better prepare his body for the rigors of the season. From weight lifting to kick boxing to running, but senior safety Patrick Ghee was introduced to another activity to the ever growing list. Ghee, along with Wake Forest teammate Jon Abbate, did a number of yoga type exercises this summer to improve his strength and flexibility.
"I used the techniques to better improve my flexibility and range of movement," Ghee said. "With that improved flexibility, comes increased strength and speed."
"We did not take a true `yoga' type class, but just applied many of the exercises that would be found in that type of class. It was pretty interesting and definitely helpful."
Injury Report: DE Matt Robinson (knee) remained the only player not practicing today.
Next Practice: Thursday, 8 p.m. on campus
