
Wake Forest Men's Soccer Opens Preseason Camp

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's soccer team opened preseason camp today in preparation for the upcoming 2006 season. The Demon Deacons return 18 letterwinners and 10 starters from last year's squad that compiled an overall record of 13-8-2 and reached the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16.
After spending most of Tuesday in meetings, the Deacs didn't have to wait long to begin training Wednesday. The team reported for it's annual fitness test at 7:00 a.m. this morning before hitting the field for their first training session at 5:30 p.m.
The squad will train twice a day over the next five days leading into their exhibition match at UNC Wilmington on Aug. 15. Wake Forest will conclude its exhibition season on Aug. 19 versus Furman at Spry Stadium (7 p.m.).
In all, Wake Forest will get two and a half weeks of training in before hosting the Wake Forest/adidas Classic the weekend of Aug. 25-27. The Deacs kickoff the 2006 campaign against UCF on Friday at 7:30 p.m. The Demon Deacons will then play William & Mary on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
Wake Forest returns three All-American selections in midfielder Ryan Solle, defender Pat Phelan and defender Julian Valentin. The Deacs also return ACC All-Freshman choices in forward Michael Lahoud and defender Sam Cronin. Wake Forest will also get a lift from back-to-back stellar recruiting classes, each of which have been ranked among the top 10 in the country.
Tickets for all Demon Deacon home matches are now on sale either online at WakeForestSports.com or by calling the Wake Forest Ticket Office at (336) 758-DEAC. Tickets may also be purchased at Spry Stadium on game day. Individual tickets prices are $6. A season pass is also available that provides admission to all nine home matches. Prices for the season pass are $35. All seating is general admission.
