BLACKSBURG, VA. - Marcus Tracy gave the Demon Deacons a two-goal advantage with less than a minute remaining, as the No. 7 Wake Forest men's soccer team picked up its first ACC victory of the season, defeating No. 15 Virginia Tech, 4-2, Friday evening at the Virginia Tech Soccer Complex.

Tracy scored off a one-on-one breakaway and injected the ball into the top right corner of goal at 89:09, solidifying the victory after Virginia Tech had score four minutes prior.

In addition to Tracy's goal, Michael Lahoud, Ryan Solle and Lyle Adams scored, to help improve the Demon Deacons to 6-1 overall and 1-1 in the ACC. The loss drops Hokies to 2-1 and 0-2-1.

The Demon Deacons got on the board in the first 10 minutes of the game of a corner from freshman Austin da Luz. The pass was received by Sam Cronin, who found Adams in front of the net. Adams then volleyed the ball into the back of the cage.

Virginia Tech's Charlie Howe answered the Deacs' goal in the 33rd minute off a slow rolling cross from Jonathan Collier, putting the two teams into the break with the score tied at one each.

Solle scored the game-winner off a penalty kick at 57:36 and Lahoud gave the Deacs a one-goal advantage in the 85th minute with the assist from Cody Arnoux. Virginia Tech was quick to answer, scoring 15 seconds later as Erick Vickers shot it in off crossbar. Although the Deacs were ahead by one goal, it was Tracy's shot that solidified the victory with less than a minute remaining.

On the day, the Demon Deacons outshot the Hokies 19-3, while each team took six corners. Senior Brian Edwards picked up his sixth victory of the season and made seven saves in 90 minutes of action. Virginia Tech's Brendan Dunn played the entire game for the Hokies and registered five saves.

The Demon Deacons will close out their three game road swing against Davidson on Sept. 20. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
