WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The No. 18 Wake Forest women's soccer team is headed to Chapel Hill on Sunday to face 11th-ranked North Carolina at 1 p.m.
The Deacons (7-4-2, 2-1-1) will look to avenge their 4-0 loss to the Tar Heels (10-3-0, 4-1-0) in 2006. UNC leads the all-time series 20-1, with Wake's single win coming in 2000 at Spry Stadium (1-0).
The Tar Heels dropped their season opener for the first time in the program's history this year, falling to South Carolina 1-0. Despite the rocky start, the Tar Heels lead the ACC with four conference wins, including a recent three-game win-streak over Duke, Maryland and Clemson. Miami has been the only ACC team to defeat UNC this season, taking a 1-0 win in Coral Gables.
The Deacons are currently fifth in conference standings. Virginia, who Wake battled to a scoreless draw two weeks ago, is second behind the Tar Heels, followed by Florida State and Miami.
Sunday's game will be the end of a three-game conference road swing for the Deacons, who defeated Maryland 1-0 in College Park and fell 2-1 to Boston College in Chestnut Hill.
The game will available on GameTracker and ACC Select (ACCSelect.com).
